Welcome to Tina Evans Psychotherapy and Counselling

Working together to help you navigate life's challenges.

Life can be full of challenges and demands, especially if we have others relying on us. This feeling of overwhelm can cause confusion, anxiety, negativity, burnout and many more emotions, affecting both us and our relationships. It can be difficult to share these feelings with family and friends - this is where I can offer you a non-judgmental safe space to explore and navigate any issues you are experiencing.

I'm Tina Evans and I'm a qualified Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor, and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I have a Master's Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and have witnessed the very real benefits counselling can have while working in various clinical settings, agencies, charities, schools, colleges and delivering group workshops on stress and anxiety. In addition to my private practice, I have been a volunteer with Cruse Bereavement Support for many years, where I gained valuable insight into the many forms of loss we may experience during life, such as bereavement, loss of identity, direction, relationships, roles, hopes and freedom.

My early career was equally varied, including working in sales, hospitality, retail and corporate finance, the commonality of these roles being the importance of establishing and maintaining relationships. My many years in international finance allowed me to connect with people from different cultures and backgrounds and understand the demands of the corporate world. However every situation has given me an awareness of how individual we are and the challenges we can all face in our day-to-day life. These experiences provide me with the understanding and opportunity to help you through your personal and professional adversity, helping you to become your authentic self.

"It is astonishing how elements that seem insoluble become soluble when someone listens, how confusions that seem irremediable turn into relatively clear flowing streams when one is heard."

Carl Rogers

I offer a chance to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment, with someone from outside your day-to-day life.

Together we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives – and perhaps a new understanding of yourself. Therapy isn’t about giving you solutions or advice, but empowering you to make your own changes.

I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, coming to me with a diverse range of problems, including bereavement. As a fully qualified therapist I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by their code of ethics.

“Beneath every behaviour there is a feeling. And beneath every feeling there is a need. And when we meet that need rather than focus on the behaviour, we begin to deal with the cause, not the symptom.”

Ashleigh Warner

My Approach

My integrative approach is a combination of humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive therapies, which can facilitate deeper exploration. However, I believe it is the relationship which has the most healing potential, as such we work together to reflect on the difficulties and emotions you may be experiencing, in a safe and confidential environment.

We may look at personality types, attachment styles and external influences from your past or present but my only agenda is to create an accepting, trusting relationship. Somewhere you can speak freely without fear of judgement, and I can learn what life is really like for you.

Together we can look at patterns or behaviours which are not working for you, with a view to empowering you to make your own changes and gain acceptance of things out of your control.

Who I Work With

I work with people from diverse backgrounds who are dealing with many personal and professional issues including, but not limited to: bereavement, low self-worth, stress, anxiety, burnout, loss, depression, perfectionism, loneliness, self-harm, identity, trauma, shame, anger, sexual issues and unhealthy relationships, including narcissistic abuse and codependency.

These issues may stem from childhood, trauma or previous relationships, or they may have just arisen and you would like help to understand them better.

Life transitions such as; bereavement, career, marriage, parenthood, infertility, affairs, miscarriage and divorce can throw us off balance but together we can help you make sense of the difficult emotions evoked. I also work with professionals who have adopted unhelpful lifestyles as a coping mechanism and am a GSRD and Neurodiverse affirming Therapist.

My belief is that clients are the expert in themselves - my role is to help you find your internal resources to promote change and growth, while gaining a truer sense of self and realising your potential. I am comfortable discussing upsetting and sensitive subjects and additionally offer telephone or email counselling as the autonomy can allow you to share your experiences easier.

“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.”
